River Ridge Recovery

About Us

Over the past 50 years our Substance Use Disorder Treatment services have evolved to reflect the most up-to-date research and successful strategies, techniques, and opportunities. Nevertheless, one thing has remained constant throughout the years – our commitment to providing the highest quality treatment programs and individualized care to all of our valued clients.

River Ridge Recovery is an active member of the Dakota County Chemical Health Providers Council and the Minnesota Association of Resources for Recovery and Chemical Health (MARRCH). All of our programs are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services and our residential programs are also licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health. Clinical staff are required to maintain individual licensure through their respective Boards.

Mission Statement

To provide holistic care in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders in a trauma-responsive and client-empowered setting.

Our Core Values

  • We are focused on providing services with integrity, passion & commitment.
  • We believe people get better when they are an active partner and family systems are involved.
  • We deeply care about our team members and believe they are the key to our success.
  • We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.

Client-Centered

We believe that everyone experiences behavioral health problems in a unique way and that each person follows a different path to healing, growth, and recovery. Our services are customized to meet the needs and build upon the strengths and abilities of our clients. Treatment plans are developed collaboratively and revised as necessary.

Abstinence-Based

Evidence clearly indicates that life-long and total abstinence from all mood-altering substances should be the goal for individuals with a substance use disorder. Our programs are predicated on this foundational principle. However, we recognize that there are several pathways to abstinence. Some individuals may require medication-assisted treatment (MAT), such as Methadone or Suboxone, for extended periods of time. Our Customized Recovery Program incorporates our values and vision as well as some of the harm reduction principles. River Ridge Recovery programs will offer services to these individuals if all other admission criteria are met.

Gender-Responsive

Men and women have differing physiological responses to both mood-altering substances and emotional distress. Men and women tend to approach interpersonal relationships differently. Men and women are exposed to differing social messages and pressures that significantly influence behaviors. Effective treatment programs take these differences into account at every level including physical environment, staff background and training, educational materials, as well as policies and procedures.

Trauma-Responsive

We believe that trauma is pervasive in the lives of our clients and that it has profound impact on both addiction and mental health. All of our clients have access to therapists who have been trained in a variety of trauma-specific clinical interventions. Every element of each program has been designed to create a safe environment where clients can heal and grow.

Strength-Based

We believe that our primary role as helping professionals is to facilitate each individual’s process of self-exploration, discovery, and growth. This process is most effective when we are able to help clients leverage all of their personal, familial, and social resources. We work with each client to identify, strengthen, and utilize all available assets and supports. We also recognize that individuals vary with respect to learning style and our treatment plans take this into account.

Culturally-Aware

We believe that culture is an integral component in human psycho-social development and has significant bearing on the processes of addiction and recovery. Our staff assists clients in addressing challenges that may be related to culture and, even more importantly, in accessing culturally specific practices and supports. We strive for an attitude of humility; recognizing that our clients are the true experts in their culture.

Family-Centric

It is quite common for family members, partners, and friends to be adversely affected by the behaviors of a person with a substance use disorder. River Ridge Recovery offers a wide array of services for family and other concerned persons including family therapy and couples counseling. We also believe that family support can be the most valuable asset an individual possesses in their recovery from substance use and we encourage involvement at every stage of treatment.

Insurance Plans

River Ridge Recovery is in-network with most major health insurance companies, including Minnesota Prepaid Medical Assistance Program (PMAP) plans. In addition, we also accept county behavioral health funds, Rule 25, and direct access.
