Since 1972 River Ridge Treatment Center has been dedicated to providing advanced mental health services in Minneapolis, and as we work to promote mental health in our communities, we always look forward to the annual observance of Mental Health Awareness Month.
Perhaps you’re among the one in five Americans who has struggled with some form of mental illness, or possibly a member of your family or a good friend has had that experience. If so and you would like to help, here are three ways you can celebrate this very special month.
Reach out to friends and family
Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the enforced isolation that came with it, now is the perfect time to reach out to the special people in your life to let them know you’re thinking of them and care about their welfare. Modern technology provides numerous ways to reach out to others, and in doing so, you don’t have to become their therapist and offer advice. Just listening and letting them know you care is often all a friend or loved one needs.
Make a Donation
Consider donating to one of the thousands of organizations across the land that support mental health. If May is your birthday month, ask relatives and friends to make a donation in lieu of gifts to you.
Share information
Most of us today have multiple social media outlets, and you can use yours to provide valuable information. A simple post is all it takes, like one giving the number of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 1-800-273-8255.
In modest, everyday ways like these you can join us at River Ridge in celebrating National Mental Health Awareness Month and help us provide the very best mental health services in Minneapolis.
