Research clearly indicates that abuse, violence, and trauma are realities in the lives of many women with substance use disorders.
Unresolved trauma can be a primary cause of relapse for women in all stages of recovery. This program, created by Dr. Stephanie Covington, is a strength-based approach that empowers women through increased awareness and skill development. Participants attend a two-hour group session each week for a period of eleven weeks. This is a closed group with regularly scheduled start dates. This program is generally recommended as part of a more comprehensive treatment experience, coupled with additional program services.
However, it can be utilized as a stand-alone relapse prevention program.
